A few years back, the Washington Post's Style Section published a controversial article on crossing roads, entitled "TO GET TO THE OTHER SIDE". Approaching the issue from a self-declared "artistic" perspective, it functions effectively as a handguide for safe jaywalking, with a distinctly Zen feel.

While children should NEVER break the basic rules of crossing, it is important to realize that many adults will jaywalk no matter what. For this reason, it is important that those adults who must live dangerously do so thoughtfully.
