Rivkeh Yankee-Shoes... bashing about the BoE again

Your article really made me want to read the books! Do they illistrate their own stories?

Julia Donalson writes, Axel Scheffler illustrates. I know Julia Donaldson has written books with other illustrators, but I don't have any of those yet (3 year old recognises the style of pictures but can't read the author details yet - its going to cost me a fortune in new books when she realises!)

Rivkeh Yankee-Shoes... bashing about the BoE again

It's surprising how much kids relate to the pictures, you may find she isn't so keen on books not illistrated by the same person as much, even though the writing is good and she'll read them. She sounds like a smart kid... reading to your children is such a great thing!

My kids still enjoy these books and they're at school now, which just goes to show that good writing never dies.

Unfortunately, they also liked some pretty dire stuff such as 'Snappy little sounds'which features such rhymes as:
'Dog would like his dinner before it gets too dark
He's waiting by the farmhouse door - bark, bark, bark'

And some little books about Postman Pat featuring:
'When the summer sun is hot,
Pat enjoys an ice.
Orange is his favourite,
But strawberry's also nice.'

Have you ever noticed that the worst writing for children tends not to have the author's name on it, so as not to embarass the individual.
