Unexplainable. Both Denmark and Finland are part of
scandinavia, although I'm puzzled as to why Finland is.
One can at least understand a word or two in a Danish sntence,
but Finnish is absolutely uncomprehensible.
I know, because my mother-in-law is finnish and we tend to go
there every once in a while. But perhaps I'm wrong? Some say on
other places Finland is not part of Scandinavia. Ignore this thread if so...

Finland is part of Scandinavia, although their language bears no resemblance to any other apart from Hungarian, which has always been a great philological enigma. I believe the Finns have the highest suicide rate in Europe, or is that the Swedes? Scandinavians are cool though, they are big drinkers and they don't have four-hour lunch breaks and I bet their shops open very day and you can buy fags in most places, unlike in France. Considering the French smoke so much you'd think they'd have more tobacco outlets.

I'm not really sure about the suicide statistics. I know we are rated very high here in Sweden, but I seem to recall somthing about the Fins topping us.

Rather than you topping yourselves, ha ha. Do the shops open all the time in Sweden and can you buy cigarettes quite easily there?

Authorities have restricted the cigarette issue quite a bit. There's an 18 year age limit to buy cigarettes now, but yes, you can buy them in most shops.

Finland is not oficially a part of Scandinavia although it is considered to be. Basicly: every one wants it to be,
but ist's not!!! I'll have to admit that it's silly that its not, because of the minority language in Finnland that is
Swedish.

I have mixed feelings about Finland. Loads of myths about it and it's inhabitants in Sweden. The culture of Finland is more that of an ex-iron curtain country, but historically Sweden and Finland have a lot in common. Except for the fact, of course, that Finland have fighted wars in modern time, and Sweden have not.
I like the nature and environment in Finland, but then again why shouldn't I? It's practically identical to Sweden...

Finland is NOT I repeat NOT a part of Scandinavia, although 99.9% of people who know what Finland is (no, you can't eat or drink it) think that it does belong into Scandinavia. Finland is in Fennoscandia (I've checked this with several people with a masters degree in georgraphy). So, Finland doesn't belong into Scandinavia
