Oh, the humanity! I've just learned (by way of one of my sites being shut off) that my host company has forbidden the use of gossamer-threads.com Links 2.0 on any of their servers.
This poses a bit of a problem for me as Floor 42, Matinee and WTL all use the script (what can I say, it's versatile). WTL was busted this evening...and I can't so much as correct a typo until I either a) learn MySQL and convert the entire database over, or b) move to yet another host.
What a tremendous pain this is turning out to be! If I had the time, money and inclination to learn to administer a server, even a dedicated server off on someone else's property, I would. But I don't.
A word to the wise - *don't* choose communitech.net as a host. Their package looks good on paper, but since I've joined up with them I've encountered unreasonable outages, extremely hostile (not to mention slow) customer service, and a series of rule changes with no notice. I'm tired of people I'm paying treating me like an unruly child.

Oh and it's against their usage policy to complain about them on sites hosted on their servers, hence my whining here...

Send them a letter saying that the actual withdrawal of money from the bank account from which you're paying them is no longer a supported feature of your custom, and would they like to arrange collection of wheelbarrows of dimes from a postal address in Zanzibar on your behalf.

It's a big old island off the East coast or Africa. Mozambique, I think. It was also known as the Spice Island, and was an incredibly rich and prosperous place, thanks mainly to the local trade in turmeric and saffron.
