It wasn't meant like that B'el! A newbie stumbling into the post naturally will understand the context - they're on h2g2, it makes sense that it's a page about the h2g2 community.

What we're proposing is a way of firing articles onto the monitors of people who won't have that context. They're randomly flitting from site to site, looking for something to hold their attention. They won't have seen the h2g2 front page, the post issue page, anything. Just bang! Random Ramblings. Devoid of contact, it can be confusing.

For newbies who've signed up for the site and wondering what they've gotten into, RR is indispensable.

I don't recall reading any of your RR's that would or could be classed as confusing. Far from it.

It isn't a criticism of Random Ramblings to say that a lot of the things it covers won't be understood by somebody if it's the first thing on h2g2 they've ever seen.

I could make the best parish or community bulletin ever made, all about my community, what goes on there, and what the local characters are up to. But if someone sees it without knowing any of the people or places mentioned because they are from Bogota and have never been to my area before, they won't understand it.

It's not a fault - it's part of the whole idea of RR. A h2g2-centric rundown of what's been going on in the past couple of weeks.
