No Texas is hotter than CA! California is sunny all year around but not really hot, at night it gets down to 60-70 degrees even in the summer. There are parts of Texas like that but not Houston because we are close to the Gulf of Mexico so we have A LOT of humidity and it might get down to 94 degrees at night.
Humidity makes all the difference I can take 104 if it's dry weather and I know it will cool down at night in Houston 104 feels like 114 and your clothes are just sticking to you which would be why Houston never really grew as a city until air conditioning came around.

I have never been to liverpool but I went to london once. We lived in Germany for three years and went with my mother to see some musical. We were there for a week and I don't think the sun ever came out. I have seen photos of Liverpool and it looks beautiful!
I have always wanted to go to Ireland, partly because it so green and I have heard the people are great, but also because that's where I have finally traced my father's family to. They came here in 1703

hi michelle,
did you find exactly where in Ireland your dads family came from?,
Liverpool does have some beautiful architecture including some by Wren,
Liverpool was once known as the second city of the Empire as the wealthy merchants sadly brought slaves here via the west-indies which in turn brought the rich slave-traders who bought land and built magnificent houses and mansions, which in turn brought people looking for work,
Then Liverpool went from being a fishing port to a thriving metropolis,
The city has recently awoken after years of decline to be voted the prestigious European capital of culture,
i could go on but i've probably bored your pants off already babe,
take care...sean

No you didn't bore me and I would love to hear more.
Let me tell you about Houston, it's a fairly new city it didn't really start growing until the 30's ,the same time as air conditioning We are a port town even though I have never seen it because we are a physically large town. There are over 4 million people here and we are the 4th largest city in the U.S. We have more than 11,000 restaurants, which is more restaurants per person than any other city. There are over 90 different languages spoken here and we are very culturally diverse city. We are also the home of NASA, so one of our nicknames is The Space City. Okay now I have bored you, so I will shut up.
I am not sure exactly where they were from, I haven't gotten that far but my great aunt said it was some where around Dublin. I am still looking for more documents.
Tell me more about Liverpool.

hi michelle,
i live three miles away from norris green in huyton,
but the equivilent distance in your city would probably fifteen miles which shows you how much smaller british cities are compared to the u.s.a,
moving back to liverpool's history michelle,
(the irish potato famine)
i dont know if you know a lot about irelands troubled history but apart from an invasion by the vikings which was eventually repelled her nearest neighbour britain has been the unwanted occupier,
but the episode which brings most shame on the british was the great famine of the 1840's when the staple diet of the people of mid and western ireland was blighted and the blight spread nationwide and crops failed,
in the aftermath the peoples alternative foodstuffs ran out and the people began to die of starvation,
but on the east coast and particulary in dublin life went on as normal,
but when you consider michelle britain still ruled ireland it makes you wonder how the rich merchants, bankers etc etc could travel down rural lanes in their horse and carriages and seeing dead bodies of children and the elderly, and the living eating grass, insects etc etc,
soon a mass exedus began with those who were strong enough heading west to america and east to liverpool, glasgow and cardiff,
in modern day liverpool michelle the irish(catholics) live near the river(mersey) and the english(protestants) live further in towards the city,
this stems from events from when famine victims arrived on the docks and when they tried to find food and medical help, they were chased back to the docklands by the locals who traditionally hated the irish due to them being supporters of the orange order, they fought catholic king james under the leadership of prince william of orange at the battle of the boyne, and would you believe it michelle their ancestors today still hate the irish with real venom,
anyway michelle post famine the irish were forced by local bigots to settle in the docklands areas of liverpool,
hope you dont take offence to anything i've written here michelle but it's all well documented,
take care babe..sean

I know all about the potato famine, remember it is said that the has U.S. has more Irish than IrelandPlus my ex-husbands grandparents were from Belfast in fact that's where his dad was born, they moved to Boston and some how to California. His grandfather has told me quite a lot about Irish history.
Let me tell you what happened to the Irish who fled during the famine to America, they were met at the boats and the men drafted into the union army because we were in the middle of the Civil war, there also people throwing stuff at them teling them to go home. They were forced to live in the slums of New York and when they went to look for jobs there would be signs that said "no Irish need apply". I have seen cartoons from that period of time in which they showed Irish as monkeys dressed as leprechauns. They said that the men were nothing but druken fighters and the women were whores, the Irish were looked at as being worse than the blacks because a job a that a black man would do for 10 cents an Irish would do for 5.
What I find so weird is you would have thought that since we had just so recently fought England for our independance and that we still haboured such hatered for the English, why did they not have sympathy for the Irish? I feel bad for them because they came here thinking that this was the land of freedom and that life would be better, but they were treated just as bad if not worse! It has taken a long time for the Irish to gain respect in the U.S.
Well I hope we talk again soon!I would like to hear more!
Michelle
P.S. Do you know one thing I like better about e-mail? Spellcheck! But I do like the smileys here

Well it's 7:23 p.m. and it's only 84 outside, so do know what I have on, a long sleeve shirt and sweat pants. Actually I did put on long sleeves it gets a little chilly when you have had your air conditioning set for 100 degrees and it only gets up to 86
The only reason we had cooler (I said cooler because I know where you are, it's cold for us) is hurricane Colitta just hit slightly south of us, actually less than 30 minutes away, and the sun never came out today.
It was cooler last week because of the same reason, the bad part of that was I was on vacation
Talk with you soon
Michelle
