hi! I'm new to h2g2 and I came across your posting about alternative careers for doctors. Just curious to know if you are a specialist. Maybe you could try your hand at technical writing.

Hi there. I'm not a consultant; if you look at my last misspelled entry, you'll see what I've done with myself. And I'm not even pensionable yet! Is technical writing your thing?

...the keyboard gremlin at work?? Replying to your question,I am not into technical writing. I am a doctor, but I do not have my own practice. I am with a health service company presently, while trying to make up my mind on my future prospects. Needless to say, I would also like to know the alternative careeer options available for doctors.

I suggested technical writing as it would combine love for writing with medical knowledge. ummm, you could also combine your computer knowledge with medical skills and go in for bioinformatics??.. just a thought.
