I've finally got the registration side of things working for technoimbiber, two reasons it took so long, one is I'm a lazy sod, the second is the problems with the server here. I don't know why, but it's still freezing occasionally. It's still allowing web pages to be dished out through the shared internet connection, but it's not dishing out any webpages itself, or is it allowing me to remote desktop into it to find out why, or even to browse through file explorer to get stuff off it.
But the registration side of things is now working.
The next thing to do is sort out the bit so that registered users can rate a beer, sounds easy but isn't. It doesn't just give it a mark out of ten, but depending on that mark it alters the users palate for that style of beer closer too or further away from the palate held by the beer. And a few other things too. Then there's the problem about users rating beers that don't have a palate asigned to them yet, obviously it doesn't alter the users palate, but what happens when a palate is assigned to that beer? There'll have to be some way of storing all the ratings for beers that don't have palates, and then when a palate is added, adjusting all the users palates according to how they rated that beer.

You can see how it's getting complicated.

Thankfully the beer rating and palate adjustment system is one of the most complicated things on the site, and after that it's downhill sailing

CAMRA goodness, we had a short social drink/chat on Monday night to go through all the publicity material that we got through from HQ. Most of us would have preferred Tuesday night in a better pub, but we were guilted into Monday by the awkward one, as he was going to be there anyway for a quiz later on. So we went there, everyone else had to leave early because Monday was awkward, and he turned up late. Then spent all the time either saying, "I've got some of those" or talking to people who weren't with us but there for the quiz! Needless to say, I wasn't too impressed.

But, the outcome is that I can happily dish out stuff to the pubs.
