I can't stand hearing all the people today shout "Peace Peace!". "Peace is not found, it's built on sacrifice." You can't just turn your head and pretend everything is okay. Actually you can, but it's only because our troops are protecting your ignorant butt. I thank God that there's someone out there willing to fight, kill and die to protect me from terrorists who want to murder me and my family and my people.

I'm not saying I believe that the United States government is pure and holy. I'm just saying it's pretty obvious which goverments are alot worse.

You guys keep talking about your pacifist 'peace'. But when the demons of this world come after me, I'm fighting back. And I thank God for the men and women in our government who will fight for me.

" I thank God that there's someone out there willing to fight, kill and die to protect me from terrorists "

So do I. I thank God for the brave British troops garrisoning that flashpoint.

My home town was attacked bt terrorists, so I know what it's like.

HOWEVER.

The troops I'm talking about are in Nothern Ireland, where the IRA terrorists have killed thousands over the years, both in NI and on the mainland. These terrorists were never targeted by "the war on terror" in fact, they were funded mainly by American benefactors.
No, the American government isn't holier than thou, it's quite the opposite. Who trained the Al Quaeda? The USA. Who installed Sadaam Hussein? The USA.

If you create terrorists and they attack you, then I have no sympathy. Sure I feel sorry for the families of those that die in terrorist attacks, but I don't see why a few hundred American lives is cause for a war on the Middle East when thousands of English and Irish lives are just ignored by the Americans.

Ignoring the UN and then bullying them into helping you fight a war that they didn't want is so hypocritical it's untrue.

And finally, "fighting for peace is like f*cking for virginity."

Turkey has a terrible human rights record, worse then iraq in fact, but dont get invaded because iraq has more oil.

North korea is rich in resources, but doesnt get invaded because it has the most powerful land army on the planet (with the yanks a close second)

Afganhistan is a home for terroists and the like, but in 2000 american gave the taliban several billion dollars in aid.

Do you want me to continue?
War isnt a fight for peace, its a fight for resources. Sun tzu main point that war is pointless if you get sod all out of it, and that the safety of the state is not a good reason to actively go to war (in other words, no pre-emtive strikes like there was in iraq)

'Pre-emptive self defence' is the international equivalent of punching some guy in a bar because you think he's looking at you in a funny way.

The main reason Iraq got invaded was basically ego. Firstly in the sense that Saddam had been openly defying the States for well over ten years and getting away with it, which inevitably upset those in the 'the USA is not only the world's richest nation but also its' greatest' camp. And secondly in the sense that this was unfinished business for the Bush family. No doubt in another generation the Bush twins will be elected president and take the opportunity to go after Osama for similar reasons...

Fully agree about the hypocrisy of certain Americans when it comes to Noraid and the Ulster situation, BTW...

Anyone hear about a certain line of pipping built by america going from iraq to turkey?

What a wonderous conincidence that the bush family has its fingers in lots of oil company pies and uses america to invade an oil rich country.

Funny that.

This looks like it'll turn into generic America-bashing, which I'm unhappy about, but anyway...

I find it more interesting that GW Bush was originally set up in business with the aid of a prominent Saudi family calling themselves the Binladins. (The black sheep of said family spells his surname slightly differently.)

(Read an interesting piece in the paper today about how a lot of Hitler's programs about racial purity were inspired by the work of American doctors and eugenics institutes. So maybe there's another one for the list.)

Yeah, I'd seen a few documentaries on the Racial Purity and Eugenics concepts.

And GWB is doing business with the Binladens? Tsk.....

Not sure how GWB currently stands with the Bins, but one of the only planes allowed in or out of American airspace immediately after the twin towers attacks was a private jet taking the Binladin family home.

Michael Moore's next film will apparently cover this rather murky topic in full impartial detail...
