Latent Labour still?
Dorothy (used to be Baby Driver) Started conversation Jul 8, 2003
Friday morning saw contractions much worse than I had had before, so I called the MW. She came and told me it was 'latent labour' and said I was '0.5cm wide'. There was hope for an Independence Day baby.
Friday afternoon saw fewer contractions, and when she came to check on me, I was only '1cm wide'; blinking body had been cheating on me!
Saturday saw a couple of contractions, but more BH; I didn't bother to call the MW.
Sunday saw huge numbers of quite painful contractions, about 5 minutes apart, between 2am and 6:30am. MW came and checked up on me at 7am, and diagnosed... 'no change'. Baby was wrong way around, and too small to be manouvred by the contractions, so every time my body tightened, the womb was trying to turn him round and failing. I was still 1cm wide, just a bit more tired out. The rest of Sunday was passed in a haze of disappointment and hormonal stresses (poor husband
).
Monday saw nothing at all - just tightenings, no BHs. Most disillusioning. I'd decided to forget all about this 'latent labour' thing and go back to living a real life. I made a bundle of plans for the coming week...
Tuesday morning, I was woken up at 2am and 4am by huge great contractions. I know there were others I slept and 'breathed' through, but I've woken several times with huge pains in my back & belly. Including pains I'd recognise as period pains, if I weren't so concerned about symptom-obsession.
Baby has wriggled all the time, so am not worried about him/her.
Now I just need all these contractions to keep on going, not fade away like Friday/Saturday/Sunday (& let's not even think about Monday, when I had none! I felt like such a fraud!)
