h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

This is my first time writing but I have to get this off my chest. I'm so sick of the dubbers dis-respecting animé. It isn't fair to take a good story and distroy it for a western audience. We get left with the out come because of 'soccer mom's', and the parents in England are no better. The belife that a little violence is going to permently scar their fragile little 8 year old is stupid! But I'm just like -_- O.k then, there is more violence in the 'real' world then there will ever be in an animé. We hear everyday on the news about little childeren being murderd by sick perverts but their more concernd about a little blood on a characters face! I'm like for God sake there are more important things in the world like war and famin then to care if a character says a sware word. Kids have heard all the sware words way before their parents ever did. They treat little kids like idiots these days. When I was a little girl I use to watch violent programs and I'm not running aroung mugging old ladys for chump change, so what makes them think that they will now? We seem to becoming more old fashioned and sensitive by the day. O.k I do agree that showing children extream violence is wrong and yes it may scare them but here is the answer, don't show it to them! But I don't understand why Japanese childeren can take violence on T.V but western childeren can't? I guess it's mainly American T.V stations thinking they know what people like. What childeren like. And yes kids will tell you that they do like the program they are being shown because it's apealing to them, but not to an older audience who want to know the whole story, not just the butcherd stuff they fling out. Your probally wondering what has inspired me to write all this, well I know I'm sad but I watch Yu-Gi-Oh! on Sky One (well I use to watch it). Anyway before I saw what the edited one had to offer I watched a clip of the un-edited subtitled one, and when I heard what came out of the edited one I wanted to scream. All the dialoge changes made me realise that they really don't give a monkeys about the story only about selling cards. Most of the character names have been changed, their personalities, gone, the cards, don't even get me started on those! And the voice acting on some characters! please, my dogs can act better then them. The original story is good and interesting but now I'm just sad to see an interesting story go down the drain. But I will give American companies a defence because they do bother to bring us animé where as in England we would just feel it to risky to bring in something new. They do sometimes change it and do the original story. They try to bring animé to us. And they are bringing manga to the western world. And I wasn't saying that the American compaies are bad. But it's companies like 4 Kids entertainment who don't have a clue are the ones I'm talking about. Because the suits of that company and companies like it just want more money, and good companies don't get the appreciation they so rightfully deserve. But I guess that's the language that speakes the loudest, the language of money!

Damn right! I quite like edited Yu-Gi-Oh, but then I haven't seen the unedited version. The card game itself is good fun, but all the other merchandise is Thank god they didn't edit Cowboy Bebop or Outlaw Star - or if they did, I shudder to think what the unedited versions are like. Maybe we should start an online campaign for the right to view unedited animé.

Amen to that!!! My parents and most of the parents I know don't really care what their kids are watching as long as it isn't a porn, and my mom taught me most of the profanities I know anyway!! TV does not Make kids do bad things, kids make themselves do bad things.
