I don't really remember the TV programme, but I got the comic (The Brit version anyway, I seem to remember there was a difference between that and the US) and had the toys. They were quite educational, moreso than Tellytubby dolls, anyway. I think they've resurrected them recently, and turned a serviceable world into a poo one. I'm feeling more than a little nostalgic for them; hence the RPG I'm writing for them. Well, converting an existing one, anyway.

I thought Transformers were brilliant and as far as I can tell they have never invented a toy that even comes close. No self respecting seven year old could have watched the Transformers Movie and not cried when Optimus Prime died. In fact, I think that was the last movie I cried at!
Yup, even large metamorphosising alien robots aren't what they used to be. They do have this series now which has some characters of the same name and they do transform but its called Beast Wars I think. It uses computer graphic animation and has non of the charm of the original.

AAH. Transformers....More than meets the eye! I know lots about Transformers. IN England, the comic series lasted like 300 issues or so. IN the states, they lasted 80. The BRitish version was a bit more violent than the American(damn censors!!!)but also much better in my opinion. The show lasted 98 episodes in the U.S., that's including the 3 episodes of the Headmasters entitled "The Rebirth". I don't know how they were shown in England. In Japan, they continued the series with Headmasters, and then Beast Wars(animated instead of CGI like in the U.S.), then Beast Wars 2, then Beast Wars NEO, then finaly Beast MAchines. In the U.S. we came out with Beast Wars, about 4 years ago. It involves a war, between the MAximals and the Predacons. The war takes place approximately 3 million years after the events in the 80's tv show, but also 4 million years before. The MAximals chase the Predacons through a timewarp, and end up crashed landed on Pre-historic Earth. At the end of the second season, they find the ARk, complete with all the bots still deactivated. Ravage and the Spark of Starscream show up throughout the show as well. A lot of the names were kept from the old show, but none of them were the old characters. After 3 seasons of Beast Wars(52 episodes), They came out with BEast Machines, which continues the events cronicled in Beats Wars, but back on Cybertron, in their present day. There have been 13 episodes so far in the U.S., while they have aired the second season already in Canada, with like 3 or 4 episodes left to go. They will be showing them in the U.S. in September, I hope. Any more questions, feel free to ask or post, and I will answer them.

We watched the movie the other month at Uni. We were spellbound. Now to track down starfleet.
There are some damn good resources on the web for them, too.
