I got to hang out and party with Kate and Ant! And while it's true that I'm a lush and it is true that I smashed Kate's car into a curb and it needed a new tire this morning (I was SOBER last night dammit!), it is NOT true that I threw wet noodles around the house and screamed galic battle cries.

I haven't talked to Andy in 3 days. He gets back from Italy today. I'm hoping it's good news. Kate is hoping for me, but she and Ant also got to meet Josh and see that my alternatives are not entirely unpleasent. smiley - winkeye JUST KIDDING HA HA. damn.

The house is a mess and we had a lot of fun in spite of the fact that it's too hot out here and I don't have air conditioning.

I think I'll sit around for awhile and wait for a phone call.

Do do do.

The whole car story:

Okay, I live right next to Wrigley Field and there were Cubs games every single day that Ant and Kate were in town. When there are Cubs games in my area, the cops come out like locusts in season and stomp heaftily up and down the streets looking for cars that just can't wait to be towed. My area is permitted parking, so without a permit Kate would have been towed for sure. This is why, when they first got to town, we parked the car 12 or 13 blocks away in an un-permitted, un-cop ridden, un-Cubs gamed area.

On Sunday night after dinner, Kate and I go to move the car closer to the house (hoping to snag one of few metered spots in my area) so that when morning came she and Ant would be able to just roll out of the house and onto the road. We get to Tom, and he's lookin' good, no tickets, nothin. Just sittin' there waiting for us to get him. We decide I should drive because I know the non-permit parking in my area and Kate doesn't.

I'm 1/2 a block down from where we parked Tom and ready to turn right when out of the left corner of my eye I see headlights. Nervous about being run down, I look left. This is a mistake because I wind up turning too soon and basically run the car directly into, then over, then past the curb. There is a huge noise. It sounded TERRIBLE. All I could do was panic. I started saying "Oh my God Kate, I broke your car. I'm so sorry. I broke your car. Oh my God I'm sorry."

Kate tells me to wait until we look at the damage. Based on the noise both of us expect the right side of the car to be pretty much sheared off, but when we look, there's no body damage. Not even a scratch on the bumper. The front right tire, however, is as flat as flat things get. I ran to the gas station around the corner from where we were to get one of those temparary hole sealant things, and try it on the tire, but nothing happened. This is when it occurs to us that the tire took the whole brunt of it, and the horrible noise we heard was the tire exploding.

We called AAA and they were lovely and got there in 15 minutes and cheerfully changed the tire to the spare. They drove ahead of us for a little bit to make sure the alignment and the axel seemed okay (they seemed fine) and then we drove the car to the mechanic/gas station around the corner from my house. Tom spent the night at the garage and got a new tire in the morning, which Kate still has to tell me how much it cost so I can write her a check. The last time I spoke to Kate and Ant and Tom they were cruising down the freeway and doing fine.

That's the story of me breaking Kate's car. smiley - smiley

Krissy, i was hopeing for more carnage, twisted steel and violence. But a good tire story will do.

When i was in highschool my mother popped 2 tires when running into a curve. I had to go out in search of a construction site so i could find 2 concrete blocks take off both wheels and have the tires replaced. It's true, i had a ford up on blocks in georgia. I feel so hick.

I find that God does that a lot. Teases, I mean. I'm trying really hard not to take it personally.
