Anybody have one too?

One of my 4 parents is a real pain in the butt. Andy and I are going to meet my folks this weekend and no matter how accommadating I try to be, one of my parents insists on having things his or her own way.
It really makes me just want to walk away from it all. What a waste of time and energy.
I watched my mom go through this with her mom. They didn't really get along, but my mom kept trying to be friends and make it work...it never did. That's what I'm trying to do with this parent, but I really think that I may be forced to just walk away from her/him.
Anybody else have that?

Well, one of mine was a control freak - does that count?

I dunno.
Andy came home to meet my parents last weekend. As I predicted, he's made out of the same great stuff my mom and my stepdad, Bob (who's really like my dad) is made out of. They got along like gangbusters. We had a GREAT time.
We went into Georgetown to meet my dad and my stepmom, Susan, and they were, as usual, much more interested in looking and sounding good then actually getting to know anybody. It was awful. We spent an hour total with them and Andy totally got what I was saying about my dad. He thought that he could tell my dad loved me, but had NO idea what to say or do with me.
Dad seemed like a really nice guy and said absolutely nothing of consequence. It's a real shame. I want to include him in my life, but he doesn't know how to be in it.
Besides, he's always scared the hell out of me, ever since I was a kid. He gives me hives. So it's probably me being over-sensitive. It's just a real shame.
