h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Many of you many know my interest in the Martial Arts....right?....Well, we have a problem occuring in Oz (The state of Victoria to be exact). An instructor in Melbourne by the name of Glen Zwiers (A combat extremist wanker) Advertised on how to teach people to knife and gun fight in his school, both of which are wildly inappropriate for any martial art school. A certain responsibility rests with Schools to teach their students how NOT to fight before all else! As a consequence of this irresponsible little wankers actions, the state Police Minister has "Gone the Huuuge Knee-jerk reaction" and is currently trying to ban "All martial arts weapons" which is a tragic event for all responsible martial artists, I myself will have to hand over various weapons that I am trained in and use responsibly. I will lose some of my skills without a choice in the matter because of one camo-wearing nut case, who isn't even that good! I met him a few years ago and he has no talent or skill, he's just a very short brawler with a huuuuuge chip on his shoulder! His school is known as the "Combat congress of Australia" His congress consists of pretty much just him! The real problem is that I may even have to hand in my Tai Chi Sword and Cutlass which bend upon impact and do not have an edge at all! Many of my friend fear that valuable knowledge will be lost, and once it's gone it's gone forever! I am all for having licenses for these things to vent the "nut jobs like Glen Zwiers" , but to ban things outright impedes on my quality of life and my chosen activities!

There were rumors about National Security wanting martial arts experts to stop in and register with the local sheriffs as a deadly weapon when traveling.

Lots of minds and moods are deadly weapons, you cannot legislate against their use!

Yep! That is the way of the future, sooner or later Goerge Orwell will be proven right. A sociey where everything you do and say will be controlled and monitored by the central authority. AND it will happen in the US first! It has already started! Censorship versus the "percieved" common good! What I do hurts no-one and doesn't interfear with anyone elses life, so why must I be made to change? the answer is the idiots without thought who cannot see the damage that they do because their heads are planted firmly up their own a**es!

Simple wisdom but important to us beings

This is a discussion about martial arts TM not pork chops, don't get carried away with the incidentals! Did you have anything to say concerning my post or would you rather go back to daydreaming about chops etc..? (I shouldn't have asked that question).

My lamb chops are of the Karate variety of course!

Inferior self defence, ained at boring the opponent to death by broadcasting all attacks by yelling furiously!

The shouting has pupose you know, if loud enough the burst eardrums and ensuing loss of balance in your opponent can work to your advantage

The real reason behind it is to put one's enemy or opponent off guard by the ferocity of the screaming etc.... There are also some breathing applications behind it, but the Japanese never really got a good handle on the "Internal" side of Martial arts!

The screaming is just about the only bit of martial arts I could master! I've always been better at the marital sort!

believe it or not, there are genuine tactics using screaming that are quite effective!
Try screaming at an attacker as loud as you can in a "Karate" kind of way, and then turn and run. By the time they work it out you've got a start on them, just keep running!!!
