I am going to be going to my 10 year school reunion this weekend. Most of the people that are going are people that I have not seen since the day that we graduated. I am looking forward to it a great deal, just to see how people have done with the years. I rather wish that I was somewhat better off than I currently am, but people who are going to care about how much money someone makes or what they are doing for a living were already not impressed with me a decade ago.
The organizer asked people to send him pictures for a video that will be shown as part of the dinner, so I sent a picture of me at a rave in 2000. I think that I will have gone away from the expectations of many of my old classmates.
Now I jsut need to remember to *not* get drunk at teh bar before the dinner.

Sounds fun Marv, I do wish that we had reunions over here, because it would be so much fun to see how much better off we swots are.
But maybe I just like shocking people. And we do have friends reunited.

My 10-year reunion sucked, but that was because almost nobody I graduated with still lives around here, and a few of my friends who were planning to make the trip changed their minds. For a class of over 900, it was a poor turnout.
The food was pretty terrible, too.
Oh well, at least I did get to catch up a bit with a couple people I cared to see again. I wish you better luck.

Around here it seems that you will get 5 10 20 25 35 40 and 50 year reunions. At least those were the ones I saw advertised on clasemates.com when I logged in to my school.
I missed the 5 year due to bad information. The 10 year this weekend is being held at a Sports Bar and Restaurant of all places. It should be fun, and I will have my friend CH3CH2OH to help me through the evening.

BtM, the venue has pretty decent food, so that is a plus.

I don't think my class even had a 5-year, but it wouldn't have made any difference anyway, as I probably would have been abroad.
The people responsible for planning the 10-year were effing lazy. They hired some company who does this sort of thing. For $75/person we got dry chicken and not enough to eat in general, an overpriced bar (not that that stopped many people), and music our own classmates DJ'd in a hotel ballroom near Disneyland.

My class is having two seperate "reunions" however. One is a family picnic on Friday, the other is a (slightly) more formal affair at the restaurant on Saturday, along with a golf tournament on Saturday morning.
As I have no family, I am only going ot he sat night gig.

Just because it's a family picnic, doesn't mean it's just for families. If I'd had the option, I'd have gone that route instead. It's a better environment to move around and talk to people in.

I can't go at any rate now that I work in Happy Valley... I could not make it in time...

Didn't go to my 5 year. Went to both portions of my 10 year: picnic in the early afternoon with the kids and the more formal dinner that night. I am on the reunion committee for my 20 yr reunion, should be fun.

Well, I survived the event.
I ran in to a number of old friends, many who have hardly changed and many more who are vastly different. I spent most of the evening in the company of a guy that I barely remember from school, who never was really in any of the same activities as was I. However, I did have a very pleasant evening over all.
Ther was a copy of the very last school newspaper published that year, and I was thrilled to be able to read the old articles that I wrote for it. A video of things from school and a slideshow of current pictures was shown. It's amazing to see how young we were.
Over all I am quite glad that I went to the reunion, and I will likely go again in another 10 years.
