You lie down on a table, a buzzign sound the the background. You are full of anticipation as you have decided to make a permanent alteration of your skin. You fretted over the design and the effect that this will have on you from friends and family.
Too late to go back. It feels as if you are being slowly cut with a hot knife, then the sensation ends. A couple of minutes of this and then you stoart to feel less pain and more euphoria as the needle decorates your skin. The artist tells you what he is doing and cracks the odd joke. The friend along with you for moral support laughs and stays close. The needles keeps on introducing ink to your flesh.
Time goes by, and you start to get a bit bored. The artist suddenly sprays a cool soothing liquid on your skin, telling you to look at the handiwork. You see that he truely is an artist as he has etched your design on to your body.
With the adreniline still coursing through your veins you go home with instructions to care for the art, happy in the understanding that you are now changed.

*peers round door, ignoring bloody gauze*
*ignores stench of burnt flesh*
Marv...what did you have?
Where did you have it?
*whimpers*
I am way too much of a coward to ever have a tattoo or a piercing done {yet I've given birth 5 times and had 2 major operations} just the thought of needles for pleasure sends shivers where they shouldn't...
*passes out*

There is no icon that I would put on my body, because there is nothing that could give an adequate statement of who I am... and who I am changes over time. And if it were just something that I thought was neat, I'd be sure to get bored with it over time.
And if that weren't enough deterrent... they don't age gracefully.

I'm too much if a big girls' bouse to even enter a tattoo parlour to start with!
But well done for having the courage, Marv, as I said elswhere, it's a tatt

To Archangel - The dragon is on my chest....its mouth is around my nipple, with the body curled around my b**b,one wing goes under my arm,and the other curls over the top of my b**b.I had it done in several sessions over six weeks. I'm now addictted to them, don't know if its the pain,or the look of the tatt
I'm always eyeing up other peoplws tatt and it is a great conversation starter

Maybe it was just me...did the needle hurt more going horizontally rather than vertically, Marv?
My tattoo.
Heleloo - Red Dragon Incarnate Posted Apr 26, 2003
The needle hurts anywhere there is bone and it depends on the number of needles used, but it sort of goes numb and you're high on adreneline anyway so it all sort of becomes......hard to put into words.......you'll just have to go out and get one

FG, The only thing that was painfull to the point of uncomfort was the loong lines int eh cross. That took a bit of teeth gritting. But Heleou explained it fairly good. You get so amped that you don't really hurt.

Heleloo - Red Dragon Incarnate Posted Apr 26, 2003
Ohh yeah.........
For the wooses, there's a cream called EMLA that numbs the skin for up to 2 hrs, but it is faily expensive
But' truly there is no other experience but the real one! ! !
Helelou
So Marv, is it arm or leg
Whatever, it is a cool tatt!

marvthegrate LtG KEA Posted Apr 26, 2003

It is not completely healed yet. But it is coming along nicely. It is itching now and peeling. Hopefully that won't last much longer. I have my bottle of lotion with me at all times to keep it from drying out.

I have to agree with Blatherskite, there is nothing that I could use, were I to contemplate having one.
Look at that great big tattoo Angelina Jolie had on her arm, of "Billy Bob" and now they're divorced.
Helelou2, that description of your tattoo, the - it was quite - riveting.
You really should contact that "Tattoo Monthly" magazine and get a full-page spread. It would certainly have won a prize in our local annual competition just the other day... *goes to find link*
Well that's just typical, my local paper's website doesn't appear to be working...
However if you go here: http://www.thisisgrimsby.co.uk/ and then in the "search" box type "tattoo" it should bring up the latest local convention.
