h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

about a week back i started with a bad throat, and went to see the doctor, she said infection at first, but did the test for a possible throat cancer.

i had a course of penicillin, and waited to see what would happen,
-
i didnt ring to ask for the results, just waited till the tabs had all been taken , and if the infection had gone, if thats what it was.
-
it didnt, so i rang to get another doctors appointment, but still didnt get the results.

yesterday i went to the doctors, and found the first had got it wrong, it was a problem with my nose, and the thoat was with the buildup of mucus and phlem.
-
the doctor got the results, when i told him, and said all clear.
-
but it got me to thinking, what if i cant get here, no one knows the user and pass or website.
-
so because i had to get up early, the ruddy workmen even earlier today.

i have written my user and password, the site, my emails and user passwords on a peice of paper and put it in an evelope, and put it on the mantlepiece.

to be opened by mary (my neice)only.

i dont want the same to happen as a friend,yorkshiretyke, i emailed to his email many days, the emails went out, i rang his number then one day it was a hum only.

he was over 70, and i knew when the phone went dead, he must either have passed on, or gone into care.i know im only 62.

but i have angina,had two heart attack, ans a stroke in the past, and problems with my back. and as i dont have a crystal ball, i like anyone dont know what the next day will be, let alone even today.is was only a scare, but could happen again in the future

It have must been a bit of shock when you went to the first doctor, to suggest it could have been cancer. It's great to hear that it is all in the clear. I have been given asthma medication for sinus problems, even though I have never had an asthma attack. I have tried to use it and find it very difficult to use.

Jim, so glad it wasn't serious. Fancy giving you a fright like that.

I think much of your post was brought on by thoughts of pheloxi, and I must admit I have wondered what happens to a PS and threads etc. when a researcher dies. It is awful when someone 'disappears' and we don't know what has happened to them, and there is no way of knowing.

Perhaps we should all ensure that someone knows how to access our various websites, especially h2g2?

that was my thought to, so ive taken the precorsion(bad spelling)to write the things i want my neice to know, and how to use a library to help with acsesing a pc, she as no idea how to on her own.

it would be to hard to use my box,its a long, drawn out way to get to the emails, let alone the h2g2.

the new tabs seem to be working, before i go to bed i have the menthol eucalyptus in water i will use for 15 mins as insructed to clear my nose.

i still have to wait till tuesday to et my results on the blood sugar one. jim

Luckily it was only a scare. I'm really very, very happy it's sorted out now.

just a glitch with a doctor i stopped seing a long time back, but my doc was called away when i went, so i coudnt just, walk out,its not me jim
