Yesterday morning didn't show up for breakfast. That's not a typical behaviour in the Lair. Not even the rattle from the goodies' box could lure him out into visible state. Now I started to get a little worried, had he sneaked out without I had noticed anything?
I spent the following 45 minutes searching, there are a tremendous amount of places in a two bedroom apartment where a can hide. Then I found him, in a "cat house" dangling from the exercise frame in a corner of the living room. It wasn't much of a though. He had curled up, looked upon me with somewhat matt eyes and was not much of a cat at all. The rest of the day he slept more or less, didn't want to eat or drink and never made any attempts to go to the loo either. He dipped his tongue a couple of times in a tray of milk, but not even the milk was tempting. I took a Sunday walk to my w*rk and collected a couple of syringes. When I came home I tried to feed him water with a syringe without success.
This morning he at least went up for breakfast, but not even the favourite kitty bits in jelly could make him eat. Lynx didn't mind anyhow, and gladly finished everything that was left. I spent almost all of the first hour at work trying to get in touch with a vet. The one I usually take my cats to was overbooked. Finally I found a vet that had time to see . My prolonged lunch hour I went home, took a transport cage with into a taxi and left him at the vet's office. I later left w*rk somewhat early to pick up my now rather dizzy cat. He had to be sedated in order to get some liquids and have bloodtests done.
We've had some wrestling earlier due to antibiotics, cortisone and water intake. More is to come. I hope it's just an infection. is dehydrated and has high blood sugar. He is a skinny cat and has occasionally shown signs of weakness in his rear legs, which can be a sign of feline diabetes. Daily insulin injections is no life for a

Oh, I hope it's just an infection and not diabetes. Poor kitteh.
It is most certainly not fun having a sick kitteh. Fingers and toes crossed, and lots of love for that

I am very sorry to hear about your kitten and I hope it is an infection that can be treated with anti-biotics.
I hope your sweet litle kitten will get better very soon and put on weight.

Poor kitteh - and poor queen
Is there a diagnosis yet?
* fingers crossed it's infection and not anything more serious.

My panther is better today, which of course means more wrestling when it’s time for his meds He has started to eat and drink a little. We’ve not struggled with the syringe filled with water this evening.
I put a bowl with fish balls at the "no-cat shelf" high up above my bed just to keep them safe from The Great Food Theif aka Lynx . managed to jump up and claim it. I take that as a good sign.
I had to go out of town today, so #2 was asked to check in around lunch time. was eating by himself by then according to reports.

That sounds promising. I hope it's a good sign that he's just had a temporary infection.

is not well, but better - and stronger. This morning the both first times I tried to give him the antibiotics and cortisone he ran away and hid. The third time I managed to catch him, but he he bit me in the wrist when I grabbed him. I guess I have to prolong my already existing course of antibiotics a few days.
The fish balls afterwards was accepted as a peace gift, even if lynx did his very best to snatch them.

Poor little guy. And your poor wrist!
At least he's eating his fish balls. I do hope he'll start improving soon and it's not anything too serious.

I'm waiting for the vet to call me back with the results. Guess I've got to call myself after the weekend if I've not recieved any messages.
Lynx is pleased that gets goody food since he always nicks it. Yesterday lynx manged to snatch two bowls of fish balls and one bowl of kitty bits in sauce... and had to eat dry food...

The vet called me at noon. The blood tests were obviously OK, and the blood sugar was not dangerously high. Since is doing better we'll wait and see. He'll have his antibiotics another week and cortisone for another three weeks. Then, depending of how is doing, there might be follow up blood tests.

I'm relieved that his blood tests and blood sugar were all right. Phew!
Hopefully he continues to improve with the antibiotic and cortisone. And hopefully you won't wind up with too many more teeth marks in you.
Herman sends his sympathy and some kitteh love. He knows that vet visits, tests, and medicines aren't fun.

avoids me
Usually when I come home from w*rk he (and the other s)greets me at the door and there are cuddling to be done before I'm permitted to get out of shoes and jacket. Now approaches me, and turns around as soon as I bend down to touch him. Fortunately he still sleeps in my bed at night, but down at my feet now.
Occasionally he forgets he's pout and allows me to cuddle, a little.

is now considered to be all well - at least he hides and fights well enough for that .
I managed to provide him with meds for 9½ days in spite of bites and deep scratches that got worse for every day. finally I decided my angry kitty cat was probably restored back to health when he managed to fight for his rights so ferociously.
He is still a little reluctant to let me approach him during daytime when I'm dressed. However early mornings and late evenings when the bed is unmade and I'm in my jammies he's very sociable and .
