Networking.
Pretending you are interested in someone and you value them as a person when really you are using them as a stepping stone to further your own ambitions.
That's how I see it anyway. Estimations of my own opinions can go down as well as up, so I'm willing to be proven wrong.

Yeah. It's a bit like 'dame'. When you hear of someone 'being made a knight' it sounds exciting and glamorous but when you hear of someone 'being made a dame' I can't help but think of either a bloke in a dress or and old lady wearing a crown.
