why do you hate it as what's the poor thing ever done to you?

IF, not a favourite word, not in life.

In computer programming, it's oft used along with: THEN, ELSE, TRUE, FALSE, AND, OR, NOT, EOR and even checking for a set value.

IF this=TRUE THEN
PROC(that)
ELSE
PROC(the_other)
ENDIF

Since high level programming languages are designed to make code resemble real life, not such a shock.

Where as in programming, it is a positive thing, to be able to check the 'IF' of somthing.

Why in real life IF can be such a negative...

IF is a positive word. it is a word of anticipation and possibilities

IF i could just get the right number sequence i could win the lottery.
IF i get noticed by a scout i could end up playing for united.

another reason why it is a bad word is when u regret things u have done or couldve tried to do or even tried to stop situations when these things are past u cant change them but only say what IF or IF only
