The Lord of the Rings

Do you have a book you love so much you want to recommend it to the world?
Absolutley, J.R.R. Tolkien's triology "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King." In addition, read the Hobbit as a prologue to the series. I tend to think of all four books as one.
If so, what is it and why do you love it?
It is an epic adventure tale that many believe launched a whole new branch of fiction none as "fantasy" genre. Many could argue whether, or not, it is literature. I believe it is, but I'm not an expert on the subject. It's richly written, and portrays simple folk like you or me caught up in a grave geopolitical struggle . . .but, in a world entirely different from our own.
I love it becuase it is a vivid journey that allows you to put yourself in the place of the protagonists, while exploring an entirley new world (internal and external to the character).
Is it a modern novel or an old classic?
Old Classic
Is it a children's book you have grown up with?
I don't believe it was intended for children, but I did grow up with it.
Or something you have discovered recently?
Nah, it's an old favorite of mine.
