Mel

Do you give to charity regularly?
--Yes. Once a month. Usually $25 to $35 US per month. Plus larger donations at the holidays. That isn't counting my time.

"If so how? Do you do it by direct debit, do you raise funds by jumping out of aeroplanes or do you drop spare coins into collection boxes?"
--I purchase food, laundry/cleaning supplies, personal hygiene supplies, and school supplies for direct donation to the local outreach center.

"What are your favourite causes and why do you consider them to be worth supporting?"
--The center I mentioned above. It includes a homeless shelter, soup kitchen, after-school tutoring programs, and numerous worthwhile and desperately needed services that would not exist in my city if the center didn't provide them.

"Is it better to give to big multi-national charities or small local ones?"
--Small local ones. "Charity begins at home", for me means my community.

"Do you know want to know how your donation will be spent?"
--I donate time and goods, so I know where my donation goes.

"If you won the lottery, how much, if any, would you give away?"
--Since I would be relocating to a different part of the country on my winnings, I would give an endowment to the center, so they could invest and realize income from it. Depending on how much I won, it would ideally be about one million dollars American.

"What do you think about the people who stand on the streets?"
--The ones who need help, or the ones who collect?
