In case I seem a little absent . . .

I may become preoccupied with a little writing I'm doing concerning the RCMP, Screech, Dry Island Buffalo Jump, Banff National Park, Nunatsiavut, the Ojibway Manomin law of 1994, The Excavations at San Giovanni di Ruoti, the Newfoundland Sealing disaster, Joseph Brant's Anglican Chapel, the Battle of Beaumon Hamel, and the Empress of Ireland.
Okay, I admit it: I may not get to The Excavations of San Giovanni di Ruoti.
And, it might actually be the Newfie Bullets.
Or the sinus cold.

The Mohawk Chapel is a lovely little church. I have only seen it from the outside, though. It has always been closed. Somewhere, I have some photocopies I took from the church register from the circa 1785 when it was built until somewhere around 1850 or so, which I found in boxes of papers and books stored at the Ohsweken Library.
There are some very interesting bits about it being too cold for the women to attend chapel and the men being unable to attend because they had to go off to Niagara to fight a battle...
My ex had a small chunk of the tree planted (too close to the building) many years ago. They had to cut it down, I guess. We went by just a few days later and slavaged a small cut from the trunk. I wanted to get a little plaque for it, but "Stick-In-The-Mud" said no.

I don't think I'm actually going to get to the Chapel on this binge of writing, I'm afraid. But, being as you've been there, perhaps you should write it.

"the sinus cold"
Echinacea, and the wearing of a warm, soft head covering -- not wool, it itches.. -- may help. It works for me, anyhoo..
And Newfie bullets, of course

I missed a major point about the tree from the Mohawk Chapel. It was planted by Queen Elizabeth

Well, I think it is totally rude and selfish of you to just go off and leave us like this!
Have fun! Be productive! And try to miss us a little.
We'll miss *you*.
