"The Lord's blessing is upon him": This scares the bloody bejeezus out of me

To state it more clearly than the subject line does:

Absolutely everything about this news story scares the bloody bejeezus out of me. Frankly it sounds like something you'd hear coming out of a cave in Tora Bora. It certainly indicates to me that Ossama and George are absolutely perfectly suited to each other. And they are gleefully dancing us all toward the plain of Meggido. Although to this point their tactics have been slightly different, their motivation is identical and their potential for inconcievable evil is also identical.

Ah, good old Robertson, proving the wisdom once again of Sam Kinison's characterization of televangelists as "God's special education team."

I love how the Kerry team is trying to prod Bush into answering the charge, too. Nothing like stirring up dissent between Bush and his rabid religious right on the eve of an election...

Which is, of course, an irony, since they're both bent on scaring the Bejeezus INTO you....

Bejeezus was scared out of me by reality quite some time ago.smiley - smiley

Seriously, Blatherskite: doesn't the story disturb you just a little? Or do you have enough confidence in the Constitution (and I'm not saying that you shouldn't)? It's a sincere question: you're there and I'm not. I know we've had our differences in the past, but I hope my sincerity is coming across.smiley - erm

Robertson comments are either A) his attempt to prop up Bush as a man of faith; or B)A rat leaving a sinking ship.
I think the Kerry people are absolutely right in try to get a response from Bush. His press sec. has already more or less call the number one televangist in the USA a liar. Which could be enough to keep a few fundementalist voters at home

Is Robertson trying to say he's a "Holy Fool"?

Honestly, the story does not disturb me, but that's because there isn't very much Bush could say that would lower him further in my estimation. The man is famous for saying very stupid things. Just last night I saw a news clip where he promised, "We will not have an all-volunteer force!"

So maybe he just mispoke himself as usual. Or maybe he really was so swaggeringly overconfident. Either way, the damage is already done.

The one thing that really disturbs me is the prospect of a Bush victory next month. I try not to think about it.
