For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.
Ecclesiastes, 1:18
I think I'll be retiring behind my hedge for a bit.

An example of a coincidence! Our local paper publishes a Bible verse on the back page of section 1 every day - and yesterday - when you quoted Ecclesiastes 1:18, that was that day's verse!

"Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone."

Hang about, let me check today's paper...
"I said in my heart" "Come now, I will test you with mirth; therefore enjoy pleasure." But surely this also was vanity."
And they left off what it is, but it's almost certainly also Ecclesiastes, so not even close.

"Don't forget to be kind to strangers. For some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it."
-- Hebrews 13:2
Them Hebrews, they really had it down, huh?

Okay, anhaga, how *did* you know? Do you (a) work for a newspaper, and all newspapers get their 'text for today' from the same book (b) have a time machine or (c) I am iggorant and didn't know they get them from the Anglican liturgy, or somewhat similar...
Please, put me out of my misery!

"I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life."

I should have known...Thanks. (But then I know almost nothing about Ecclesiastes, despite having a guy ion our church years ago, who'd done a thesis on Eccles. and loved it, and so he praught on it a lot.)
(Praught = part tense of teach.)
