I didn't mean the cow part (which is both tragic and farsideish): I was meaning the fact that of all the farmers from Viking, Alberta, it happened to the one named Lief Erickson.

btw, vikings featured in many Far Side cartoons. Not as often as cows, mind you.
I cannot recall one depicting both cows and vikings..
