Hello! Just plugging my bands' first gig this Saturday: F112583?thread=244852
If you live in the area, it'd be great to have you along!
As long as you don't boo.

A bit too far away for me too, especially as I can't drive, but let me know if you ever play in the Bristol area!

Great review, I'm glad it went well
Have you recorded anything yet? Is there anywhere that I can get MP3s?
Oh, and I'm sure I've heard the name Smiffstar before. I'm sure it's got something to with Fracture zine

Noooo, Smiffstar is the username of another member of BBCi Collective!
We're planning to record a demo on the 22nd.

Thats often the way ........ we've planned 3 tracks, recorded them, found out we've some time left and bashed out a couple more. Often the speed required to finish them resulted in far better tracks then the original 3!!

So you're saying... record our least good tracks first, and then rush to get the best ones down at the last minute?
Actually, we've got to be wary of how much time we use as we'll be recording onto fairly low-capacity Zip disks.

No!
But bear in mind that the first track is always the hardest one to do..... nerves, warming up, even just playing in a studio is different ..... after that, you get gee'd up and start to get into it.
Well, thsat's how it was for me.

I was joking, Superdog! I've done quite a bit of recording in the past.
I'm guessing we'll play through the songs a few times, taking the oppertunity to practice and make sure all the levels are correct, before we have a go at recording 'properly'.
We won't be in a studio. As, it seems, with all of my musical endevours, this will be a self-produced affair. We've booked a fairly large area that we can set all the instruments up in and then divide up with screens, and have arranged to borrow a digital 8-track recorder and its owner to do the engineering. I've recorded with him and his 8-track before, so it should be quite good providing we find enough good-quality microphones.

You weren't, don't worry.
A demo swap is a great idea! Although ours will probably be available on the internet soon after it's recorded.
Key: Complain about this post
