There's a in the neighbourhood that turns up from time to time. I have no idea where it lives except it's not any of the close neighbours. This is a real dog area - there's four dogs that run and play together around all the houses in the block, and further out there are lots of properties with dogs. The is king though
I've seen the fox terrier come off second best from an initial confrontation so that now when foxie comes to play and the cat turns up foxie comes and hides behind me. I've also seen the cat be chased by the other foxie, but in a completely playful, just staying a whisker ahead kind of way.
This morning I go out to say hello to WonderCat and while we are standing there the staffie bull terrier sights the from across the way and makes a beeline. I point at it and tell it to stop (which it does, about 10 metres away, the people who own that dog have trained it sooo well). I go down and say hello to it and pat it, and then the cat follows me down and the dog actually slinks away
I'm wondering if I can steal this (or maybe I can find its mother and get a kitten ).

Would that be a 'cat' as in the big stripy kind from India?
I'm wonering how my dog would react. He's small and placid, but cats turn him into a ball of fury. He sorta stops being *matter* and becomes energy instead. So do the cats, mind...I've never seen one stick around.

What breed of dog is he KB?
WonderCat is stripey, but still smaller than all the dogs (except maybe playful foxie which is still growing)

Could the cat be like the ones described in this... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Unadulterated-Cat-Terry-Pratchett/dp/075283715X/ref=tmm_pap_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1313611750&sr=8-30 ?
We have a number of cats around our house including 3 of our own who are all Real Cats. Ours rule the street in cat terms but all of them run from the one dog on the street.

I used to have a big dog, a border collie and a teeny dog, a Yorkshire terrorist.
The big dog once poked his nose into a bush where a feral cat had made her nest with a bunch of kittens. I've never seen him run backwards so fast with the mama cat attached to his nose, Poor doggie.
The little one? Well, she was fearless and whenever a cat saw her, the cat would turn tail and scarper, like a bat out of hell. She was only half the size of any cat, but seemed to have the power to scare them to death.

You asked about my one Kea - Lanza's "Yorkshire Terrorist" description just about sums him up. He's not the ribbon-y kind you see sometimes.
