Dec 25, 2002 - Dec 25, 2009. No, I haven't died, just been here for a bit now
Imagine if I do that six times?

I just had a look at who's online by site, and there's only *seven* people
Except one is the mysterious Fink Butler, and the other is the test account which is always online I recognise everyone else though

Heck. I've been here six years and a bit, on and off. I thought you'd been here much longer than me, but clearly I was wrong.
Anyway. I'm glad you're *still* here.

Happy Christmas to you both.
I have been here 7 and a third years. Not the longest by any means, but hey...

Thanks you two I'm glad we're all still here too. There's too many that have gone their separate way.

Ten years! You're one of the real oldies What was it like then coelacanth? Was the membership still building up or was it busy already? When I joined it was really busy, much more so than now.

It's odd to think that I'm an old hand now. I still feel a bit like a newbie, because most of my friends have been here longer than I have.
It is less busy than it used to be, isn't it?
TRiG.

I'm less busy here than I used to be, but that's because I'm far more busy in RL. I think a lot of us are in that situation.
Maybe we'll get more people in once we've been redeveloped and generally made all shiny and attractive again. For my part, I can't see myself getting more active onsite this side of retirement - and that's about 30 years away...

What was it like 10 years ago? I'd been lurking since October 1999 and didn't sign up until late December. Membership was building but sometimes the "Who's Online" list might only have 5 names on it. Occasionally one name would appear on the list. DNA.
There were very distinct places to go, like the beach. These locations still exist of course and there have been attempts to map it all out as more places were added.
I believe I was the first person who ever visited the Towers in person, I have a photo somewhere. It was pre BBC days, when they had a little office near Covent Garden. The staff worked on laptops, propped up on phone books. They all had Barbie dolls to put on their desks to show whether they were busy.
It's also the 10th anniversary this week of the first person to be banned from h2g2, but maybe people don't realise that.

U97840 was banned in late December 1999, although managed to post a bit after that. Researcher name at first was Festival, then Skeleton, then the Mummy. Reason for banning - a flame war, read the first 9 posts here. F28730?thread=31300&skip=0&show=20
