h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Right, I'm making this post for two reasons:

1) We have a record number of contestants this year - 17. This probably means that at least three rounds of bidding are going to be necessary. Therefore, this is an urgency call to get bids in as soon as possible please, preferably before Thursday, otherwise we're going to run out of time.

I currently have 8 sets of bids, so am missing the other nine. Check that you're in the right list:

Bids in: Andy G, Bubba-fretts, Megachedda, Egon, Icy North, MT, SBE and SWL. Currently it's a tie between Andy G and MT over who is taking this most seriously.

Bids required from: Alfredo Marquez, DD, Magwitch, Nirvanite, Otto, Mr Pink-Paisley, Psycorp, Skankyrich, and Sprout. Chop-chop now, boys (and girl)!

2) So I can check who hasn't subscribed to this page and go and harrass them about it. List of shame to follow...

Oh, I forgot to mention that the eight people that have bid have only heard of about five different strikers between them, so there's still plenty of opportunity.

And it gives me great pleasure to announce that fifteen out of seventeen contestants passed the initial Phantasy intelligence test.

It gives me even greater pleasure to announce that the two who forgot to subscribe are Psycorp and Megachedda.

Come on now - you've seen how I play the game. It's going to be an £17m bid for someone who'll be injured on day one, and then the rest of my team will consist of Hull, Stoke, West Brom, Fulham and ex-Leeds players.

I don't know you post it on Thursday, some of us studied the form on the way to and from our match on Saturday, then it was the first weekend of the fringe. Give us a chance.

I'm particularly thinking that a startling lack of original thought on the part of several managers means that one player - for example - already has five bids in for him, so there will be an awful lot of gaps to fill up.
