Interesting. So that's the platform-independence of java. I was
programming just a little explorer-and-popup menu for a website, using
JDK 1.1.6. My Netscape (4.6) went fine. My Internet Explorer (4.0) went fine.
All my other Netscapes and browsers (Win95 Netscape 4.03 + Internet Explorer 3, Sun Solaris
Netscape 4.51 and HotJava, HP-UX Netscape 3.01, NT Netscape 3.0) went fine.
On MacOS 7, Netscape 4.51 it f****d.
Went on to tell me the function Graphics.setClip(int, int, int, int) was not found.
Method verification error. This is implemented sice JDK 1.0.
I'm not going to woe because of Macs. But does anyone know what they're
good for? Besides being proprietary all the time?

Going off to a garden now.

There is a possibility that the thing went wrong did it 'cos it
didn't match the other stuff. ask at your local Elecronics Boutique
for a more detailed analysis.

Whatever you meant by 'doesn't match the other stuff', that was *not* the reason. Since I'm quite professional, I know what's going on inside those bloody machines (otherwise I wouldn't earn enough money to buy a pizza every four weeks to survive), and I checked it myself. I wrote the java program on an NT using JBuilder, and I compiled it there, and it went fine (as I told before). Somehow the java packages on the Mac are doing their own stuff (there are nearly no packages you can download from Sun's website for Mac. They just won't work. That's what I meant by saying Macs are proprietary), including some bugs that occur when using three commands of the Graphics package in special order. And that's exactly what I did.
It works now. Terribly slow, but it does what it's supposed to do.

Just for correcting.

And believe me, no electronics boutique around 150 miles could have told me that.
