Headache... And now added double vision

Baron Grim

Just to note. It's another winter with the expected sinus congestion and a mild headache on my right side and just maybe a bit of returning diplopia.

It's probably nothing and even if it is, there's not much I can do about it.

There's little I can do about it.

I looked around this morning to make sure I knew where my eye patch was.

It seems I'll be needing it again. smiley - crosssmiley - cdouble

Update: Yeah, it was the tumor returning. No one saw it on an MRI until this year. I don't know if the sinus surgery (sphenoidectomy?) I had later that year was helpful or not.

This year the issue got much worse. My headaches haven't been that bad, but now my left eye is FUBAR. Previously, my right eye was the issue. It was the one I was talking about deviating from forward gaze. It eventually became permanently deviated inward, giving me crossed eyes and double vision (diplopia). I coped with this by using various types of occluders and eye patches on my right eye. I would only partially block my eye glass lens with either black or translucent tape leaving my peripheral vision clear. Last year (maybe earlier) my neuro-ophthalmologist noticed I presented with "Parkinson's Sign" (not the syndrome) for Horner's syndrome. My eyes' pupils were different sizes and while I didn't see it then, he said my left eyelid was droopy. Well, this year my left eye started deviating. It also now points to the left (at least I'm no longer crossed smiley - cdouble ). That pupil is quite dilated and my eyelid is basically permanently closed. I'm now exclusively using my right eye and having to turn my head to the right to see what's in front of me. The upside of this is my right eye has better vision than my left. For far distance, it's nearly 20/20; up close, not so great but manageable with glasses. Although, glasses suck, especially my trifocals because I'm looking so close to my nose my vision is obscured by the vertical edge of the trifocal sections. I mostly use my "reading" bifocals now which are set for arms-length vision for the main section and very close for the bifocal section... and that one goes right to the edge of the lens frame.

Anyway, the tumor is back and now it's abutting my optic chiasm. In a couple of weeks I'm having another surgery (like 2004) followed by radiation and possibly chemo.

I can't help but wonder how early the returning tumor could have been caught on the MRIs. I know it was small, but one of my new doctors said they could see it on a previous MRI. I'm tempted to bring the ones I have on CD in and have them look at them again. Not that it makes a difference now, but I'm just curious.
