I have been meaning to submit this description of the bubble engine for months, but couldn't find it amongst the megabytes of rubbish on my PC.

Please feel free to make whatever comments you feel it deserves.

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

"The mixture is too rich, usually caused by too much powder or you are not letting the powder dissolve fully. The difficulty in starting is caused by a build up of soap powder on the piston crown."

Wouldn't liquid laundry soap eliminate that problem?

......

Is this for real?

Liquid laundry soap makes the mixture too lean, leading to premature bursting of the bubble and subsequently to inadequate performance

2B or not 2B, that is not the question....

What is the question is that I can't see how on earth this thing would work. You can't get something for nothing, and the laws of energy conservation don't tend to be flexible enough. I can also see several flaws in your argument which would prevent this from working.

All in all, not one for the EG. Sorry.

The entire article is, of course, a complete nonsense!

Perhaps it requires just a little hint that it is a spoof

I think the original concept was devised around simple-to-maintain post-war motorcycle engines. Perhaps trying to adapt it for Maseratis was a tad ambitious!

I don't know what you mean

My Hillman Imp has been running on a adapted version of this since 1953

Apart from sharpening the pencil every 20,000 miles, it requires virtually no maintenance.

There you have it! Vindication that this most simple of designs works. I rest my case.

This looks like a pretty piece for the AWW (or <./>AGG/GAG</.> ) and I'd say we should move it there.

I think you should have saved this for the 1st April. Then it would have been brilliant. It loses something reading it on 2nd January.

BTW Sprout, The Hillman Imp didn't see the light of day till 1963. I know because I had one - far superiour to a Mini.

Hi Arse Myth

You may not be aware of it, but your entry on the Bubble Engine is getting some praise and admiration here: F74130?thread=235697&latest=1

It looks as if it has been nominated for the Underguide, (a non-existant entity which compliments the Edited Guide). And as I said - there are people there crying 'Author! Author!' - and it is to throw you bouquets of flowers too! Come on over and say 'hi'.
