Driving back home last night at about 6:30pm I was listening to radio 4 (classic FM was playing one of those gawd awful warbling things instead of classical music) and heard the new comedy show, Museum of Everthing (I think), with Marcus Brigstock. Very funny.
Had overtones of HHGTTG about it as well.
What particularly made me laugh was one of the quick skits where someone was reading a newspaper and says
"According to the Daily Mail, 92% of foreigners live in Britain".
Well, made me laugh anyway.
Shall have to try and catch it next week as well.

I caught that bit too! Marcus Brigstock is usually good listening.
What I sometimes find confusing with new radio programmes is that there aren't loads of trailers (or if there are, I don't hear them) & I'm not always quite sure what the nature of the programme is. Even after hearing it I'm not always certain, particularly as I often miss bits .

What particularly annoys be is when you have a whole pile of tunes played all in a row. You don't necessarily know were you came into the series of tunes, none of them are familiar, but you particularly want to know the title or artist was, and either they rattle off a huge list of titles and artists, or they gave the list at the BEGINNING! Arggggghhhh...
At least now, with the internet, most FM stations (the quality ones, at least), list their programming for their latest show on their website.
Years ago, I was listening to CBC FM and there was a reading from a book. I turned it on just as the story was beginning, so didn't hear the introduction. After the reading..... they just went on with the show, without telling the listeners anything about the reading.... I was really anxious to find out because I wanted to read the book. I phoned CBC, but the person in programming didn't seem to know what I was talking about. I have never been able to track down the title of the book.

That's a good feature of desert island discs - they do tell you the details both before & after the piece of music.
I did once look up classic FM's website to identify something I'd heard in the car. Unfortunately their listings & times weren't quite accurate. I could only guess which title I wanted from being about 15 mins after something I did know!

Amazon, by the way, has a great selection of free downloads, if you are ever looking for something.

Yup, i listen to Classic FM in the car. It's the only thing I can listen to, other than Radio 4 Comedy and news, that doesn;t make me t'd off.
Although the occasional 1812 overture or equivalent does seemt o reduce my journey times somewhat. Or Carmen, that works as well.
They had whatserface on playing the thing from Carmen (you can tell I'm into this clasical malarkky can;t you?) (Leslie Garret that's her). Anyway, she said she had been to the factory (!?) that Carmen was based in/around and apparently over 50% of the women there are called Carmen!

I find classical music tends to be too variable in volume to use as background listening in the car. Or if it's loud enough to hear all the music, the drivel in between is FAR too loud.
At least pop is more on an even sound level & you can have that loud enough without having to listen to the chat in between!

That's what I like CBC. So much variety. They have 2 CBC FM stations CBC1 and CBC2. I prefer CBC1.

Yes, the old Royal Tobacco Factory in Seville - not far from my house. It's a gorgeous old building that now houses the Humanities Department of the University of Seville.
I also regularly listen to comedy on BBC 4 on the internet, specifically The News Quiz and Just a Minute. Which can be found here:
