Hey Monsy, you may know this, but just my £0.02. The site is now moderated, so all the old bits and bobs are, temporarily, unable to be seen. Moderators will go through the backlog, starting with the most recent, and eventually all will be visible Hope this helps, and until later....

I was worried too, but TPTB are still in charge. One of my Entries was busted (a work in progress) as not being balanced and seeming to condone the smoking of cannabis, Peta sorted it out though, so it seems cool enough. Of course the mods are new, so they may apply the letter, rather than the spirit, but I reckon it will settle down The new terms and conditions are not that different, swearing has been banished and URLs in fora, but other than that, it all seems normal Anything else I can help with, just yell Until later....

What I like least of all is the link-busting. Can't these guys understand it's the intricate linking that makes the whole thing so useful??? My old style completely relied on lots and lots of links, I considered it one of the greatest strengths of h2g2. And now what??? Where do I go now? Sheeeessshh!! It's all been turned useless.

I know what you mean. The thing that gets me is that they do not allow it, but they still have that disclaimer at the bottom of the page. One or the other, guys, not both. Grrrr. Until later....

i a bit confused about why, what was wrong with the way h2g2 was? i mean everyone knew that anything you put in the guide was considered property of h2g2 and everyone knew that you did not use stuff unless it was allowed by the owner. the links never (well almost never) seemed to be a bad thing, they were often helpful when it came to discussions and such. i used quite a few of the links myself to find out more about what someone was talking about. as for the pics on everyones page, that made the site look friendly and warm, kept it from being just another website in a pool of many, made it stand out so to say. i don't know, maybe in time i will get used to it or maybe, just maybe they will relax a bit and allow some of the old stuff to happen again

This is getting old now. Can't they at least replace the removed text with something a little more spunky than the same old "this text has been removed.." old blaah blaah yadda blaah?

AH-HAH! I thought so! This S***S! You CANNOT voice an opinion which deviates from the dictates of the POWERS-THAT-BE in Britan! Geeze! I'm glad I live in Amerikkka- where you can voice your opinion, even if the government doesn't like it, because you've got the GUNS to back-up your right to FREE SPEECH!

I posted a tiny little pro-cannabis/hemp rant. I can't help it! I've just GOT to push the envelope!

Ha ha, Baron you cannot go on about the freedom of the US, and then continue with a pro-cannabis theme. It is the friggin US's fault that it is now illeagal over the 'free' world. The amount of prisoners in the US (supposedly the free-est country in the world) is over 2 million. This is higher than almost anyone else - it is higher than Russia, ye gods man. It is now possible in your lovely country to get a life sentance for selling a single joint (if you sell it to a minor). If you have a drug conviction you lose the right to student loans, the police use racial profiling to select who is next to search. A huge proportion of black men in the US are disenfranchisesd - they have been to prison for a drug rap and so, now, they can no longer vote. Take a look at the stories of Steve Kubby, Peter McWilliams and Todd McCormick. They were a real eyeopener for me. The US is frightening in its hypocracy. The Swiss started a treatment program for heroin addicts, involving actually giving them heroin. This actually worked, they didn't need to steal for money for their habit, they settled down, got jobs etc. The Australian state of Tasmania wanted to something similar, but the US ambasador said no (actually threatened to remove their UN given OK to grow opium poppies - by using the US contacts in the UN drug control dept.). Mad. Oh, and thanks for importing most of that to the UK. We are so greatful, please come and seize my property next. *sigh*. Sorry about that rant. Thank you for listening, this has been delivered to you by Too Much Stress At Work Until later...

And the B******S did it for the wood-pulp paper industry and Dow Chemical, too!
Now even more money is tied-up in keeping it illegal.
