"I will not negotiate with myself..."
You have a split personality guy running your country like a corporation!

He should try it sometime.

I hadn't noticed this. I'll have to listen for it next time he's on. Although I really can't stand to listen to him for more than a few seconds so he'll have to say it first thing.

I guess it's his inner terrorist he won't negotiate with
Abbi, I negotiate with myself all the time too

Hi
I remember MV saying she prides herself on seeing both sides.
I wonder what process she uses.If you drop by do tell us
Smurfles you seem quite decisive to me.
You are also an understanding person.
Maybe you are confusing indecisive with seeing both sides.
I suppose what I do is more like debating myself.
That probably sounds even stranger though
I negotiate more when it is the lesser if evils kind of choice.

To me it usually looks as if issues do not just have two sides, they have an infinity of sides and trying to see them all makes my mind's-eye go blurry! But I *do* try it. I also try to believe impossible things, or try to believe things that I also disbelieve, simultaneously trying on sets of incompatible beliefs.

"try to believe things that I also disbelieve" - Willem
It's a good exercise Willem
Maybe we are just thinkers that enjoy it as a pass time.

I just re-read 'Alice in Wonderland'. The suggestion comes from that book ... where the White Queen mentions to Alice that she's a hundred and one years, five months and a day old, which Alice refuses to believe ... and then the White Queen mentions that she'd practice believing impossible things for half an hour each day, culminating in her ability to believe six impossible things before breakfast.

I negotiate with myself all the time. One of these days i will actually listen to what i am saying instead of interrupting myself with the other side of the argument.
Or maybe not.
Then again, if you look at it this way.....
*sigh*

Oh but have you considered this book or what these people have to say or what you thought last night or what you did in that dream?
Isn't it odd...or so entirely NOT odd that it's odd, that both Bushes Bushs? have this speech problem?
"And let me say in conclusion, thanks for the kids. I learned an awful lot about bathtub toys - about how to work the telephone. One guy knows - several of them know their own phone numbers - preparation to go to the dentist. A lot of things I'd forgotten. So it's been a good day."

I saw that Head start quote somewhere too!
*shakes head*
Gee No Weapons of Mass Destruction.
No Big Surprise.
There is a thread somewhere I lost track of about the Republicans being the optimisitic party. I was not able to post when I read it. I thought that was the biggest BS about the Republicans during the election! They have the nerve to keep saying it now?!?
What Optimistic people look for weapons of mass destruction and start wars over the possibility?
What is the panic about Social Security?
They have used fear tactics to get much of what they want.
That is not an optimistic mode.
It was optimistic denial to think the Iraq people would line up orderly to thank the US ,vote and police itself.
It was delusional to think it would magically be reconstructed without any plan*
Like all their phrases it is all bassackwards
