Craptastic - the Nuerologists feels it is my neck causing the major problems.
Neck MRI tomorrow, then surgeon.
I was hoping the lower body stuff could be fixed by a lower back surgery once they started talking surgery. One of those on my low back worked so well and it is much less risky.
I wanted the low back to be the spot to enternot my neck.
Might be another round of sorry gotta live with it.

It just might work, cherie. I have been astounded by the improvement in my knee, NOT just the actual injury, but do you know what?
I haven't had any cramps/spasms in the leg at night since. It might be coincidence & i was told quite honestly by the " having spinal surgery can work both ways, maybe it makes it worse, maybe it makes it better, in most cases it simply fixes the most pressing problem"
What's the worst that can happen? Could you end up more handicapped than you are now? If the legs get totally blown 'cos of this, will you still have upper body movement?

I have 3 out of 4 limbs in serious trouble.
The last neck surgery was a must do to continue living.
It will always be a last resort (for me)in order to keep things the same = best case senario.
Likely to make some things worse.
Hopefully temporary like before.
Last time the additional injury to the right arm was the result.
Took 2 years to get it back to this well, but I did.
Each time it is more messy in there. The muscle on my left side was fried by the lightning, does not allow them to pull it aside as normal to get to the spine. My thyroid and para-thyroid on the left side was removed so there is also scar tissue from that.
Even though they work on the left side or the middle, they go into the right side. This makes it more complicated.
All other docotrs have said in a disgusted or dismissive manner -
"you do not even know what side they worked on!" I have to calmly say ; "yes I do - the scar is on the right front but they worked on the left. Please read the history and it will all make sense"

Dearest abbi, big
Oh my dear friend. I hope that the MR scan gives encouraging results.
I am horrified at the doctor who was so caustic with you. Sadly it does happen as I know only too well.
I think that you have to go to someone who will NOT make remarks like that.<y friend who massages my legs has just arrived. I will finish my tale later.
Much affection and Bon courage.

Dear abbi.Your first line in the first posting sounded so familiar
I get a sinking feeling in my stomach every time i se the consultant, who says "all your problems are coming from your neck"."""but you'll have to live with it"
Lower back pain, leg pain, hips, balance etc...all from my neck!!!!
I wish i could say something that will help, maybe the scan will provide better information for them to work on,I will be in touch later today. All i can do is send you lots of s,,and prayers for a better solution.

abbi, what are they considering doing to your neck? Do they think the likelihood of improving matters is high? How long do they think the improvement will last?

Me too.. All my back problems are the result of my neck injury..
I have an appointment on the10th Feb to see if they are going to operate a third time..
If they do, they will undo everything they did in the previous two.. and pin the entire neck.
This time they will go in from the back of the neck instead of the right front.

Thanks to Manimal I knew we were in similar shape in our necks lil. His friend close to home also - say hello for us Manimal.
I am sorry you know the real pain in the neck.
(NOT Manimal)
There are many of us with various neck and back pain on h2. Nasty human body weakness practically built in.
Good Luck to you lil. I empathize
I'd like to keep up with your happenings and how Feb works out for you.
I really wanted them to be able to finish the lower back work first.
The right side of lower area worked so well and the odds were in my favor then. If the neck goes OK the low back may follow for pain relief.
This is what happened the last time, neck first to see if I could walk and feel, then lower back for further pain relief.
Within 6 months of each other.
Gotta go - MRI day.

Wow, I hope all goes well for you, abbi and lil! Looks like a neck is a terrible thing to have.
Abbi, was this problem caused by your getting struck by lightning?

Hi Tefkat
I am not sure what will happen yet.
If it's mostly my neck it will be done to stay as I am and not worsen as fast. No improvement expected(per doctor)
I have a lesion at the base of my skull, hopefully the biopsy tells them enough with the MRI view to show the same type; related to the degenerative aspect.
Bad part is they would not add metal with those forming, but the metal has changed since then!
lil - you might have a clue about that.

The bone paste hope is out Doctor said it's best for one vertebrae. Like other procedures it can weaken the ones above and below. I do not have any normal ones, so it's not an option.
Some hope for artificial disks but only 2 doctors licensed and it is still early for the official verdict in numbers.

The icky doctor I spoke of > Only saw him once!
I had 2 years of insulting behaviors from doctors who did not read my chart or look at xrays. Two said; you were fixed surgically, millions have this operation so I really do not understand your pain , therefore I cannot help you.
I am happy with my GP and Nuero and I am very thankful.
The bad experiences were quite traumatic to me.

My wonderful lady surgeon who did 3 of them has left the state I would feel more comfy if she was here.I wonder if I could go to Texas where she is?
It may take longer being a new patient
Wish me luck on a new surgeon.
One without a GOD-like ego, brillant, blunt with a touch of compassion and *decades of experience*!
One capable of saying lets recheck in 6 months IF appropriate and safe enough

Thank you all for your comments
