Emee, out from under the rock

Updates:

Yesterday/today: I noticed a bump on Peanut's forehead last night and asked her what had happened. She said she fell in the monkey house. I asked her teacher about it this morning and she said Peanut fell in the jungle gym. It cracks me up that Peanut translated jungle gym to monkey house.

Today: I was almost to my work parking lot and I was going to be early for the first time in a while when my mom called. She stayed with us for a few days after the move so she can get away from my step-sister & her 3 kids. She left for home when we left for work. She got to the edge of town when her car started making a funny noise - probably the water pump. So my stepdad will soon be on his way up here with a car dolly to drag her car back to Texas. There's an electrician job open at the public school so he might go talk to someone at the school while he's up here. The pay will be less than half of what he charges for his hourly work so I don't know that he'll be interested.

The weekend: We closed on the house on Friday just by the skin of our teeth. The mortgage company we went through is going to quit doing single family mortgages so we are one of the last few they're doing. The mortgage guy did have the good grace to let us know that our loan will be sold and we will probably just pay the new mortgage company. The insect person didn't fill out one of his forms correctly - had termites and he noted that they had been treated but forgot to put in a note saying that the damaged drywall had been replaced. Mortgage company let us close anyway. We're sort of moved in. We have the important things: beds, clothes, most of the kitchen stuff, some toys for Peanut. There's still a lot in the apartment and in storage. It's crazy. Landlady is asking now when we'll be out. She's thinking of renting to someone she knows through her church - hardluck case who needs help with a son who has a reputation for being 'onery'. That's how she got the drug dealer in the garage apartment - the woman told T (landlady) a sob story and T let her move in. I don't know when the last time was that she paid rent and she's cooking meth or something so probably isn't hurting for funds. smiley - cross T is just so gullible and naive. Anyway - time for lunch so I'll write about the in-law fun & games later.

It's a short story by Kurt Vonnegut (and the title of a collection of his short stories).

I wouldn't recommend it for Peanut for many years.

smiley - yikes I was thinking a kiddie version of the song 'Welcome to the Jungle' - maybe something used in a zoo promo ad. I'm not sure what that says about my sensibilities and I'm not sure I want to know. She'll definitely need to wait for Vonnegut.

Emee, out from under the rock

The person who wants to rent the former apartment known as mine, in addition to a sticky fingered 16 year old, has an 11 year old arsonist who has already burned down another rent house the landylady owned. Why T thinks this would be a good idea, I have no clue.
