Critters & a mini meet

Went to a friend's yesterday for dinner. Totally invited ourselves over which is not something I like to do but he & his girlfriend are hard to plan with. The girlfriend has two kids and is divorced and has to juggle the visitation thing, etc. And he has a deer farm. He has 5 fawns so we went over so that Peanut could bottle feed them, pet them, etc. She loved it. She'll be asking for deer now instead of puppies and kittens. And we took dinner over with us so I really don't feel too badly about inviting ourselves over.
When we got back (midnightish), all the landlady's lights were on and she talked to us a bit as we went by. A racoon got into her kitchen and was on top of her upper cabinets. No idea how the thing got in. She probably had the door open. Her screen door has a section of the screen cut so that her cats can jump through it and into the house. We used to have a 'possum on our porch from time to time. Haven't seen it in a while. The last time was one morning when I was running errands - it crawled under a vacant house across the street.
I got to meet Broelan and her family today. We were supposed to meet at Metro Diner but someone had the very bad grace to tear it down. Tulsa landmark, Route 66 landmark, great food, great atmosphere - can't believe they did it. But then I never would have thought Nelson's Buffeteria would ever close either and they've been gone for several years now. So instead we ate at Tally's Cafe. Mr. Emee ordered the catfish and really shouldn't have. He said it was bland. My ham & eggs & hashbrowns & pancakes (reasonably priced at $5.50) were very good. I didn't think of all the good questions until after lunch was all done with so I'll have to tag Broe with an interview for when she gets back.
Don't think I've posted about the new job in a while. I've been there for a little over a month now and I love it. The people are all friendly and helpful. They are are including me in things instead of inviting everyone *except* me to their lake houses. I have plenty of work to do without being totally swamped. And... the requisitioners love me. There is one in particular that I was warned could get cranky. He actually called me the other day and told me what a great job he thought I was doing. Time will tell if he really meant it or if he was blowing smoke. I'm going to the warehouse Wednesday to meet them all. It helps to be able to put faces with the names.
Okay - it isn't even 9:30 and I'm about to snooze on my keyboard. Too late a night yesterday and too early a start today.
