Emee, out from under the rock

Do not under any circumstances go to the Texas State Fair the same weekend that Texas and the University of Oklahoma will be playing (American) football at the Cottonbowl. smiley - yikes Mr. Emee had a burning desire to go to the fair for, what else, a car show. smiley - rolleyes I knew the game would be going on but I really had no idea what that meant until we got there. For some perspective, the Cottonbowl holds 75,504 screaming, rabid fans. That is more than twice as many people live in my hometown. Keep in mind that not all fans got seats either. Many of them were grouped around the huge screens that some of the fair exhibitors had set up. To say that it was crowded is a gross understatement. Before the game started, there were parts of the fairgrounds (mostly around the coupon sellers and food & beverage vendors) that were solid masses of bodies. So, the highlight of my Saturday was when I found a bathroom that didn't have a line. In case you're wondering, it was on the 2nd floor of the Women's Museum, around the corner to the left of the stair landing. The sad thing is, the car show wasn't as good as others we've been to in Ft. Worth and Tulsa. We did have sense enough not to try to drive down there though. We drove from my mom's to the nearest DART rail stop in Plano and took the train downtown to Pearl station. From there, DART had arranged express buses to the fairgrounds. Kudos to DART. I'm glad we left Peanut with my mom. It would have been hell trying to keep track of her and get her stroller through the masses.
