Yes, but what does "Most Likely Quote" mean? I don't understand your use of those three words at all.

Great entry! I pretty much like it as is. Don't add loads more stuff - well, not unless you really want to.
I liked 'least likely quote' - funny. Perhaps you could give the hoax necronomicon of the '70s that you mention as its source?
Well worth reading, anyway. Though footnote two went over my head. Did you mean to say that Al-Azif is explained in the nameless city? Or that it means the nameless city??

Gnomon - It just means the phrase from (well, attributed to) the Necronomicon that you are most likely to hear quoted. I'd've put "Most likely to say", but that just seemed wrong in reference to a book. Notwithstanding that the book talks in some of the wackier films...
Lucinda - I think you've misread the footnotes. Footnote 3 deals with "Al-Azif"; footnote 2 is a sub-footnote from footnote 1, pointing the reader down to footnote 7. 'The Nameless City' is the title of a story Lovecraft wrote in 1921, which was his first piece to include the phrase "That is not dead" blah blah blah, and attribute it to "Abdul al-Hazred".
As footnote 3 explains, "Al-Azif" means "The buzzing", and refers to the sound of desert insects that were (genuinely) believed to be the voices of demons and djinns in Araby of old.

Beware, Tobes, be very ware!
Things are astir in PR, sightings all over the forum of a tall but hooded figure, stooping over long-handled agricultural implement. Abandon hope all ye who sleep while the reaper walks among us! Be awake, or be away.

What's this entry still doing in peer review? It's terrific!
I've read a collection ... or maybe two.. of Cthulu mythos short stories by Lovecraft and Pals, and it was hard work. They didn't scare me, the were more... annoying. To me they have been sort of a necessary evil, something I felt I had to read so references in other fiction wouldn't go completely over my head.
Having read the stories made Neil Gaimans spoof much more enjoyable (can't remember the title of the story, or the collection).
And of course the Necronomicon is the namesake of Terry Pratchett's Discworld's Necrotelicomnicon, which I think is refered to somewhere as "The phonebook of the dead."

No need for any reaping here - I think this entry should be gently plucked from peer review and deposited on the front page.
There are scouts about but do they have picks? (as opposed to scythes)

'Ullo folks. I've been away for a bit, hence the delay. Cheers for the sentiments - as far as I'm concerned, this Entry's polished and ready to go, and I don't know why it's still in Peer Review either. I'm guessing either the Scouts consider the subject matter a little too outre for a public forum such as this, or they just haven't seen it. Or of course, there's something glaringly wrong with my Entry, only no one's told me what it is yet.
Still, if I turn my back for another week or two, perhaps I'll come back to find more eldritch smiley-spawn...

Hi Tobes,
I figure if the man from Balwyniti he say... yes! then it must be good to go.
Not that it is an 'omission' but isn't the book in the 'Evil Dead' films also called the Necronomicon?
Scout!

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
