h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

In my free time, and mainly in my shower, I have recently been thinking. I am only capable of thinking in the shower - a strange but true fact - and thus would suggest that any girl who wants to hold an intelligent conversation with me should join me in said cubicle That, however, is beside the point.

The point is, I've been thinking - mainly spurred by my painful experiences in Political Philosophy lectures - into wondering: if you believe that we need rules to live by, what rules should we try and follow? After much deep, slightly soggy, thought I produced five fundamental rules which I think I try and follow in my day-to-day life. In no particular order:

1) In any circumstance you may find yourself in, always do what you believe is the right thing to do.

2) Always be smarter than people think you are - don't lead people to believe you're cleverer than you really are, and never pretend to know things you don't.

3) Never date a girl taller than you, or more than a year older than you. Whatever you believe at the time, the sad fact is that the male subconscious naturally can't cope with it in the long run.

4) If you hate someone, make sure you know the reasoning behind that hatred, and can justify it. Likewise, if you decide you like someone you used to hate, make sure you know why.

5) Religiously, believe what you think makes sense, don't just swallow a religion whole. Remember that it is possible that no popular religious viewpoint may be entirely accurate, including atheism.

Well, there they are. Now, if only I could set them to some sort of music, I could release it, and see if I can give Baz Luhrmann a run for his money...
