I've just read your page and it is way better than mine. I'm new this week too (so the profile says). I'm still finding my way round.
You mention the love of commedies. I totally agree with the Monty Python and Red Dwarf thing but I don't think I've come across the other one.
My friends used to bug me about my reading so I don't read as much as I used to, but I still read alot more than anyone I personaly know.

My favorite book has got to be Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Although I'll read almost anything and love everything. I'll see if I can find that jazzing up thing although it sometimes takes me a while to find what I'm looking for.
You should get out and do things as it can be quite fun.
I went to laser quest with my friends and had the most fun in a long time.

I've been jazzing up my page and can't seem to make smilies or links work on Guide ML HELLLLLLLP.

Okay, I had problems with this bit as well,
When your in GuideML, to get a smiley you have to type <SMILEY TYPE="smiley of your choice"/> for example would be <SMILEY TYPE="magic"/> don't forget the /> at the end and if your at the end of a paragraph dont forget
For links I used the buttons at the top of the edit sections (you know the little yellow ones) and then just tracked down the guide entry numbers and used them, alternatively you could also use:
then write what you want to have displayed on your user page, then finish with
I hope this helps, if it doesn't I think if you track down one of the sites "Guru's" they might be able to help you. They are the tech wizards. Check first on the who's online link, often they are near the top of the list.
