Every time I click on any conversation in h2g2, I just get a blank screen. No matter what I do, I can't seem to access anything. I can read articles but none of the conversations. Internet Explorer just goes straight to the white error page and Firefox is entirely blank. I can't even access messages on my homepage.

Try using this URL: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/
Does that make a difference?

As longs as MDS is in barlesque they won't be able to read your reply, Kea. I told Ed in fb, because he had the same problem.

Crikey, when did that happen?

I think someone mentioned not being able to see things in barlesque on late Thursday.
On Friday we reported it to the Eds and they tried sorting it out. Hopefully it be sorted tomorrow
We can't ACE newbies without it, they can't open our greetings

Good grief. Poor Eds, are they working the weekend again?

I haven't seen them, but damnyoureyes is often working in the back ground. You only notice when he puts up a 'test' posting

He's a sweety isn't he? Remember him that weekend when we got left with barlesque and he came and posted in Ask telling us they were trying to fix things and not to panic and then actually said sorry for the problems!

Alright folks thanks for that, good post to make my first reply on in a long time.
So just another quickie to say there was a release of an update to something barlesque related on 'the platform' on Thursday, which has broken something on the front end and it was a bit out of our control.
There's someone looking at it now and hope we can get things back up and running but unfortunately there's a release process for getting any fixes we're required to make up on to Live so will impact on how quickly it will get there.
I'm now working on another project so haven't been able to fully address some of the issues that are left; some are being worked on but may take a bit of time to appear on the site.
Hopefully find some time to post up all about it one day.

Btw, could the newbies not be defaulted to a working skin? We've stopped welcoming them because they can't open any conversation. It was not really a good idea to make barlesque the default for newbies in the first place, as it never really worked.

We could try to get the newbies to default Brunel by putting it into the Subject box. I've just done it in Anna Siren's:
Anna Use: www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/U7381224
It is one way of them seeing help is here for them.
What do you think?

Finally got to see the replies to this conversation, but only by converting to 'Brunel'. The links all seem to work in this skin, which they didn't with the default setting. (I think the new skin looks much nicer, though!)

If you click on 'Preferences' there are two other skins to choose from. Alabaster might suit you a little better if you liked Barlesque.
I like Barlesque too, it's just a shame it doesn't work. *sigh*
I'm glad you found us though. It's been a nightmare of late.
