change Password?
Hun Started conversation Sep 15, 2000
Hiya!
I forgot my old password so I had h2g2 send me this email I can link to 'my space' from. From there I can hit 'Preferences' and now want to change the old password into a new one - but the sys wont accept my entry.
Whenever I enter a new password in both fields and then hit 'update', the page will simply reload to its old content, including the old password.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Hun

Hi Hun... I think it is changing the password, it just doesn't show it. The number of *s in the password boxes doesn't correspond to the number of letters in the password. Confusing, isn't it?

I have an idea. No, don't run away.
Seeing as how this password thing seems to confuse absolutely everyone until it's pointed out to them, perhaps you could make it say "Password updated" or "The numer of asterisks does not correspond to the number of characters in the password" or "I've updated the password, go away now" or something like that...

Hello er... Person With Really Long Name?
Thank you for the hint. I was VERY confused at this too, esp. when my new password won't let me in. But now, after the third or so attempt, it has worked and all is now in order. Thanks for the hint!

I'll point this problem out to the tech team. I can probably get them to adapt in some way. Thanks for pointing it out...
