kea ~ Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small, unregarded but very well read blue and white website

Scratch that last post - it seems to be fine now (not sure what I was doing but it was something at my end).

Can you preview the same text? Does it show any errors? Is it the exact same text you copy from the editing program or is it different text?

What I did last night was cut and paste a piece from the A page, put it in a text programme, edit it, add in the gML.

I then opened the edit page, and pasted in the above edited text (so I only changed a portion of the original text, I didn't repaste the whole thing).

When I clicked on update, the A page loaded unedited. I didn't try previewing.

I tried a few times and then gave up.

That is what happened a few weeks ago with 2 of my PSs (except I'm pretty sure I was editing in the text box rather than in a word or text programme). At that time it previewed ok but then updated to the original text.

I have had trouble in the past with cutting and pasting in and out of the text box like that - earlier in the year the text box from my PS showed empty with no scroll bar. But when I selected all and cut and pasted to a word programme, the text was all there only with extremely large spaces between sections. So might be a problem at my end. I'm using mac OS9, in case that's relevant.

It's working fine now, but I'm not sure if it was something I did differenltly or not. SInce I posted last here I've updated the page using the text from a word programme that I edited in the programme. I don't remember exactly where I got the text from - I was using a mix of a word and text versions, copying from an older version of the webpage, plus maybe the text from the edit box.

When it wasn't working this morning, I was using various versions and formats too. Sorry, I'll keep better track next time.

I guess it's possible it might be a browser problem, then. There are some characters which aren't allowed into XML, and your editor might be generating those characters.

It must be something to do with the actual content, otherwise I'd expect everyone to be having problems.
