I'm probably being stupid, but I know nothing of WAP stuff, so...
What exactly can you do with the Guide and a WAP phone? Can you post to forums? I gather that you can do your journal and add entries. Is there anything else that you can use a WAP phone for with the Guide?
Also, can any Wap phone access h2g2?

Try out http://wapsilon.com/?wbt=o&u=http://mobile.h2g2.com/
You can see pretty much all of the current WAP service, apart from the My Journal option, which doesn't work in the Wapsilon emulator. This feature allows you to post new entries to your Journal.
More features are in the pipeline, but as I'm getting married this weekend you might have to wait a week or two 
As far as I know all existing WAP phones are able to access h2g2. Of course, some handset manufacturer could come out with a new phone next week which is even more incompatible than the rest of them...

talk21 are currently running an offer where they are giving away wap phones, I just needed an excuse to bother getting one.
I hope your wedding this weekend goes as well as mine a month ago. Enjoy the day while it's there, it goes by far too quickly
