A Conversation for Technical Feedback

PC Deleted Files Help

Post 1

Graeme

I have recently unwittingly deleted all of my digital photos from my PC (duff advice from a technical help bod) and need to know if there is any way i can retrieve them. I understand that although files are marked as deleted, they remain on the hard-drive until they are over-written. Where can i get help for this ?? The problem came about because i was told to insert a certain recovery CD which didnt recover anything, it simply installed a new version of the operating system, hence deleting all my precious files! Is there any hope smiley - sadface

Whoami - iD dislikes punctuation

I'm not sure that you'll have much luck in getting the files back - if Windows was reinstalled it may well have wiped over those files. However, I'm not the greatest technical genius on hand, so there may be hope yet...

Whoami? smiley - cake

If it was an installation from a windows CD, maybe, I'm not ure wot Norton comes with thse days. But if it was from back up CD's on a system sold without a Windows CD (alas very common these days) then maybe not as these can be a Disc Image smiley - erm

Good Luck.
