Pan-DNA Party 2003
Created | Updated Apr 26, 2003
Let's celebrate the diversity of DNA communities!
OK, so that sounded a bit funny, but it's a sensible idea if you think about it - why shouldn't people from all the DNA communities meet up for a bit of fun in the summer? It'd be a lot of fun if representatives of all the communities joined in!
Where?
I'd like to suggest that, since there are DNA teams in Northern Ireland, Devon and Lancashire as well as in London, that we pick a location reasoably central to the country - perhaps South Warwickshire. I would say that - because I live not so far away from there. It's not too far from London by train or coach - a little over 1h30 by direct train from Paddington.
What would we do?
Well, we could go to Warwick Castle in the late morning, and then sit around St. Nicholas Park, where picnic lunch could be eaten. There's a café in the park which sells ice creams as well. After lunch, if people weren't content just to sit around in the park, it's a short journey by bus or car to Leamington Spa, with town centre shopping and the newly refurbished Jephson Gardens (The redevelopment is pictured here, from which rowing boats can be hired. There are eateries and pubs in Leamington.
When?
It would be nice to do this in the summer - there's a lot of outdoors involved, although there is plenty of room inside at the castle. Also, St. Nicholas park café will be open, and there's seating outside.
